I guess moderation was inevitable. Blogging tends to invite controversy and the internet tends to breed insanity and stupidity and as Maui St continues to grow so to does the comments sections of most posts. This leads to more controversy, insanity and stupidity. Moderation must naturally follow. Unfortunately, one of blogspot's most significant weaknessess is that individual commentators cannot be blocked.
I always intended to leave the comments section open, I like the idea that anyone can comment without my approval, but I guess it only takes one person to ruin it. I hope this does not deter regular and potential commentators. Although I no longer reply to every comment (there are simply too many and I do not have enough time to respond to most comments adequately) I enjoy reading your opinions – especially those opinions that challenge my beliefs and, in some cases, correct mistakes of fact. So do not be put off that your comments do not appear immediately – I approve comments fairly promptly. At least now you can be assured that Maui St is now home to astute and sensible commentators only.
